The Alberta Association of Recreation Facility Personnel (AARFP) is a member-driven, Not-for-Profit provincial organization dedicated to providing excellence in training and professional development for individuals involved in the operation of recreation facilities. The AARFP is managed by a volunteer board of directors who represent the membership on recreation industry issues.

We are hiring a Bookkeeper | Office Administrator at AARFP. They will be responsible for the financial duties and certain administrative tasks within the association. This is a part-time permanent position, with 24 hours a week. The core working hours of the office are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This position is in-office only; however, the hours are flexible. As an employee of AARFP, you are entitled to benefits, positive work culture, your own parking spot and more.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

Financial Duties:

  • Performance of daily financial transactions
  • Process account receivables/payables and ensure that all payables are submitted to the Executive Director in a timely manner for payment
  • Maintaining financial records using QuickBooks
  • Posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining general ledgers
  • Following up on all outstanding invoices
  • Complete regular bank deposits
  • Preparing monthly budget reports
  • Processing of all accounts receivable for all Association revenues
  • Completion and submittance of tax remittance forms, WCB, employee benefits and other government documents
  • Preparation of other statistical, financial, and accounting reports as requested
  • Preparation of year end reports and to assist with the Annual Audit

 

Administrative duties:

  • Data entry of relevant attendee information and marks
  • Maintenance of education and association files
  • Monitor membership database system for new membership applications and course registrations
  • Assist with the administration of the AARFP Awards Program, meeting minutes, cadre and meeting logistics
  • Respond to phone calls and emails in a professional manner
  • Order education, and office supplies
  • Support all association activities as required, as well as other duties as assigned by the executive director

 

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proficient in QuickBooks
  • Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting is considered an asset
  • Attention to detail, accurate and organized  
  • Competent in working with membership database/software
  • Excellent Customer Service

 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to attend meetings outside of regular business hours
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Evening and weekend event obligations when required
  • Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required
