This courses is a requirement for the Advanced Recreation Facility Management Certificate. 

Cost for this course is $1500.00+GST. Modules cannot be taken independently.

This course is comprised of two (2), one-hour online, live sessions, weekly, over 3.5 weeks (per module) and each course cascades after the other with a one-week break in between each.

Modules:
1. HR for Managers (14 hours) - Learn strategies to improve employee engagement, retention, and performance. Effective HR strategies in recruitment, orientation, and development contribute to long-term organizational success and reduce costs.

Learning Outcomes
1. Identify current issues in the human resource field and the changing role of supervisors and managers in terms of HR functions.
2. Write job specifications and identify core competencies.
3. Apply methods of finding, selecting, and keeping the best people using behavioral description interviewing techniques.
4. Make performance reviews a collaborative process.

2. Essentials of Finance (14 hours) -  Improve your financial acumen. Learn how to analyze financial statements, make capital budgeting  decisions, and manage a budget. Emphasis in this course is on the practical application of theory through practice exercises/examples.

Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the relationship between finance and strategy
2. Identify which key performance indicators that measures of business performance
3. Measure risk and return using ratios, percentages and descriptive narrative
4. Define the cost of capital and the opportunity cost of capital
5. Build and use financial statements for organizational decision making
6. Create a balance score card using Key Performance Indicators
7. Read and interpret organizational key financial statements
8. Employ forecasting tools to make decisions, measure the financial impact of decisions made from forecasting.

3. Applied Project Management (14 hours) - Explore the world of project management from beginning to end. Learn the basic concepts of how projects come to life, how they are managed throughout their life-cycle and how they are closed-out.

Learning Outcomes

1. Define project management.
2. Discuss how organizations develop project management methods to meet their needs.
3. Describe an overall framework for project life cycle.
4. Explore the importance of a project schedule management.
5. Explore project management fundamentals.
6. Define project resource, time and cost management as it pertains to the project management cycle.

7. Assess how and why projects are broken into stages to facilitate work.
8. Describe the process of identifying risks in projects.
9. Demonstrate the importance of project stakeholder management throughout the life of a project.

Payment must be made no later than July 26, 2024 or the registration may be cancelled.
